The bottom line is: Most companies spew BS in order to fool the average gamer, who is an idiot.

Especially Sony, Microsoft, EA, Working Designs, etc.

Where do you stand?

If you believe all this crap, then come to New York. There\'s a nice bridge I\'d like to sell you. Cheap.

:nut:
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Oh!  I always wanted a bridge of my very own!

Last night there was a news special called "Hype," and gawd, if they didn\'t hype up the show hype then I don\'t know the meaning of hype.  But I do know the meaning of hype because I see so much hype for everything now-a-days and hype has become a second nature to all those hype-dishing advertisers.

It\'s all part of a game I like to call "stupid people spend money."  Hype began with the traveling circus and the Snake-oil salesman.  Without hype we wouldn\'t have any of those k.a. commercials and such.  Hype has turned into entertainment.  See how it\'s got us all going?

Nothing is ever as advertised, deal with it.

And about maxing out the PS2.  I think at this very point and time it could be true.  But as soon as a new dev kit comes out, or some guru finds a hidden resource, BAM! newer, better looking games.

Has he bought Tecmo? NO! MS does not and will not ever have a monoply on the gaming industry . Don\'t sit and whine that he is tryin\' to buy companies out, because he has bought very few. And those was needed! You need 2nd party developers. Sony has bought developers also. It is part of the buisness.

How does claiming that DOA2:HC maxed out the PS2 help themselves or Sony?  Tecmo\'s Team Ninja says "DOA3 could only be done on XBox" or fine..that helps boost potential Xbox sales among DOA fans. But putting down DOA2:HC..what the HELL does that serve?

fter browsing through some screens, Soul Caliber, the only other third-party 3D fighter that I can recall, easily ousts DOA2 in graphical comparison.

I have both and can assure you that DOA2 looks a lot better than SC.  The bgs in SC can\'t compare to the bgs in DOA2.

i was brought to attention of this thread from another board
so i thought i\'d give a bit of my thought

First of all, reading that interview made me thought Tecmo is full of **** as well. But after thinking a bit, here\'s something fishy

1. I\'ve never heard of such Nsider interview except 1 (which is available for public viewing now)
2. nobody who replied to this thread seems to have seen the interview either
3. you\'d think a Nsider interview you could find in the archives
http://insider.ign.com/article_2001_04.html
the only tecmo/xboxign interview i can find is the one in may "Interview With Team Ninja Leader Tomonobu Itagaki"
which can be viewed publicly here
http://xbox.ign.com/news/35116.html
4. most IGN interviews end up on normal IGN

kinda makes you wonder who the real liar is huh?

TTT looking better than DOA2:HC?  Not using my eyes.   DOA2:HC is probably the best fighting game ever made IMO and the best looking without question.  5 stars all the way.

DOA2:HC looked great, but so did TTT.  DOA2:HC was animated better and looked a lot more fluid.  But TTT had better lighting effects (The sun on the beach level is the best sun I\'ve seen in a game), detailed characters, and nice looking levels that matched the graphical quality of DOA2 characters and levels.

BTW, IMO, DOA is one of the worst fighting game series ever made. :)  I hate how it is all about countering.  In Tekken, we hate the turtlers. (People who play completely defensive and just "hide" the whole time)  In DOA, it\'s a good thing to be a turtle. :)  The counters take off way too much in DOA2:HC.  If they took off about half of what they take off now, it would make the game better IMO.

You can turn down the counter damage in the options.

I don\'t think you can.  You can turn up the total player health (which I did), but you cannot make counters take off less damage.

And it doesn\'t matter anymore anyways.  Tekken 4 is coming out next week (the 15th), and I have a lot of practicing to do before I go back to the arcades. :)

Arcades are a sad place these days.  At least in my areas.  There\'s nothing I want to play.  It\'s like I walk in, look around, and want to go home and play.

TTT looks alot better than DOA2:HC. Maybe if they fixed up the jaggies it would look better.

Jaggies in DOA2:HC?  Am I the only one who can\'t find any jaggies in DOA2:HC? :)  Maybe I\'m just not looking hard enough.  DOA2:HC graphically is a beautiful game, but the gameplay needs some work IMO.

EmperorRob, I haven\'t been to an arcade since I got my PS2 and TTT.  For the past year there really hasn\'t been anything new or worth going to an arcade for.  Now, we get Tekken 4, Virtua Fighter 4, and Capcom vs SNK 2.  That\'s more than enough to get me to go to an arcade. :)

Well, after all of that

We all agreed on one thing...

While DOA may look pretty, thats all it is
Gameplay is needed with graphics, and DOA does not have much.. if any
