Its not rocket science. I just don\'t see how my opinion is so bogus. No one has given me a VALID reason as to why I am wrong. You just mock me with un intelligent replies, just like Soul Reaver did.

Now I wonder how well YOU did at school.

By the way, I was an A grade student and got an OP 2 (which is in the top 98 percentile).

IE - I did better then 98% of ALL students in Queensland last year (65 000 grade 12\'s got an OP).

Maybe I wasn\'t very specific.

When the teachers ask you how the Neanderthals came to be extinct, did you say the dinosaurs ate them? When numerous ships disappeared in the Sargasso sea, did you say that sea dinosaurs ate them thinking that dinosaurs where alive at that time?

Well obviously not since you said that you did better than 98% of the students in your school.

You\'d think this would be up there with the largest topic in OT, and it\'s getting up there, but no where near some others.

thats the stupidest way to argue something i have ever heard

thats like me saying there were aliens all over the earth before us - you cant prove it wrong and you cant prove it right

because there is no proof to send it either way and if there is no proof then there should be no statement about it in the first place - so since theres no proof of an arks existance period then i guess it should have never been written as fact

Someone should make another "who\'s the coolest person thread?" They always end up being big.

There are too many religion based big threads. :p

Trying to prove that the ark really existed is stupid.  And trying to prove if the Bible and other religious books are true is also stupid.  I know that I don\'t have nearly enough knowledge to prove either way, and I doubt any other person on these forums has enough scriptural and historical knowledge to do so either.  So why is this "Noah\'s Ark" argument still going on?  It isn\'t getting anywhere and I think it should be dropped.  There is one way for you to know if the Bible (King James version) and the Book of Mormon are true though -- read and pray about them.  James 1:5 -- "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."  It is as easy as that.  Do you want to know if the Ark really existed?  Read about it in the Bible (Hint: Genesis ;)), then pray about it.  If you have an open heart and an open mind, God will tell you that what you are reading is true.

Bjorn:
There are many things that were revealed to prophets before the actual events took place.  For example, the signs of Christ\'s first coming (the birth of Christ), were all revealed to various prophets long before they happened.

But you probably want things that were "predicted" in the Book of Mormon and Bible that we are actually seeing today.  Because if you don\'t believe in the BOM and Bible in the first place, all of those things revealed mean nothing to you.  Some of the most obvious things revealed in the BOM and Bible are the signs of the Second Coming of Christ. This is from Mormon, chapter 8. (In the Book of Mormon).  Go down to verses 26-32 (highlighted in yellow) to see a lot of things that are happening right now, and were revealed to the prophet Mormon back in 401 AD that they would happen now.  There are tons of things like that in the Bible and BOM.

But I again stress that you should not look for "proof" in the BOM and Bible that they are real.  You should instead read and pray about them and God will reveal to you that they are real through a "burning in your bosom."  Don\'t have a Book of Mormon or Bible?  I\'m sure that churches around you give them away for free (I know the the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints [aka LDS, Mormons] give away free Book of Mormons).

The point I\'m trying to make can best be summed up from a line in "The Sixth Sense," or maybe was it "Pay it Forward?"  Anyways:

"Just because you can\'t see it, doesn\'t mean it isn\'t there."

Science is about hypothesis, and then disproving hypotheses.  Nothing is laid in stone, because everything could be disproven any day, of any week, of any year.

Reminants of what could have been the ark have been found.  Much of our earth is really difficult to travel, yet alone study.

Thats what I dont understand, now if we can send rovers to mars and they got around. Many many people on the moon and in space, but yet even on our own planet, there is sooooo much to still be explored. I just don\'t get it.

Most science is proven and laid in stone.
In the case of  hypothesises, there is tons of of research building on other proof etc etc.
Of course there is always room for misstakes though.

Ironfist:

I checked out some of the "predictions" in  the Book of Mormon, chapter 8.
Didn\'t found too much exciting stuff, like wars and things like that. Wouldn\'t be very hard to predict such a thing... its almost the same thing as saying that your are going to die someday is a prediction.

There was one interesting thing though:
"Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be great pollutions upon the face of the earth"

pollutions..... was that word even in peoples vocabulary 2000 years ago (or when that book now was written). I mean, I see it as a pretty modern word.

Or maybe, the stuff I read just was some interpretation by some "learned" guy?
I don\'t give very much for religious interpretation made by religous people, they usually get it to what they think/want. Not very confidence-inspiring to me....

I could go through and try to find more obvious revelations (like somewhere in the Doctrine & Covenants [I think that\'s where it is], there is a revelation of that huge earthquake that happened in California a few decades ago.  I don\'t know where it is exactly though [maybe AlteredBeast does ;)]), but I think it would all be in vain.  There is one way to know if the BOM and Bible are true which I already stated above, and trying to convince you in other ways would be worthless.

Yeah, that "learned guy" was Joseph Smith.  He translated the Golden Plates (The Book of Mormon) from some old egyption language into English in under 75 days (click me) in the late 1820s.  He also fixed lots of translation problems in the Bible after he translated the Book of Mormon.  He is the one who started the LDS church.  You may be thinking, "so what?"  Here is the shocker -- Joseph Smith only had a 4th grade education.  Dun dun dun!

Of course, if you search the web you will find site after site trying to prove how false the Book of Mormon is, or how big of a crock Joseph Smith was (I have been reading some sites, and man are they reaching! ;)), which leads back to my point that trying to show you evidence of the Book of Mormon\'s truth is a waste of time.  There will always be another person with "evidence" that the Bible/BOM and stories within are false, and unfortunately millions of people will believe them because of their persuasiveness and often completely false, lie-filled arguments (and the readers’ desires for the Book of Mormon to be false I might add).

I just can\'t agree with you on that.  All of my science professors have stressed that nothing is ever 100% proven correct.  Nothing can be permanent, because of the onset of the unkonwn.  There can always be that day that disproves "proven science."

yes, but the thing that disproves science will be science
