If anyone truly believes Billy has an xbox raise your hand...
My point is that I like video games. It\'s a hobby that I both enjoy and parttake in often. I spent thousands of dollars on 5.1, HDTV, furnature, and games. These things make my experience more enjoyable. The money is well spent.
Sure I could have opted to get a good non-HDTV tube and still enjoyed my hobby. I could have settled for my old bookshelf speakers and I would still have fun. My old recliner was fine, but instead I picked the HTT9 by interactive health (with a little help from Santa
) and very nearly spent double on a higher end model. Certainly, these things are also used for movies and other things, but video games was a key factor.
The apex of video games right now is online. The online experience extends any game\'s life almost indefinitely. Anyone who has played online can scarcely refute this.
But the bane of any online game is lag. Lag kills the fun and makes it frustrating. If you want to look at only next year, if spending $50 will give me a better experience, less lag, secure servers and an entire community devoted to stat tracking, content downloads and reliability, then it\'s a paltry sum.
If it makes finding my friends on line easy and getting into a game quickly, it\'s well worth it. If I can play a FPS without worrying about lag kills, map hackers, and aim bots, then the $50 is worth it by itself.
If after a year, I find that the PS2 is a better option, there isn\'t anything lost beyond the $50. I would have spend less than any PS2 owner for that first year. I will also be able to play the best of both systems.
I still can\'t see how XBL is so bad. Is $50 that precious to all you guys? Doesn\'t the fact that you\'ll have to spend a couple hundred dollars up front just to go online worry you even a little--keeping in mind that all these "extras" you are buying come stock with an xbox?
All I see here are a bunch of threatened people lashing out at anything that could potentially be an asset to MS. There is no basis to your arguments. I can\'t believe that you are so impoverished that the $50 XBL fee will severely diminish your quality of life.
