Yeah I have a Tosh HDTV.

They\'ll be plenty of bandwidth to go around.  I thought you meant playing hte same games vs each other.

I can\'t believe you guys are *****ing and moaning about $120 a year.  A YEAR!  If that money let\'s me play a relatively lag free game online with my friends, then it\'s worth every penny.

You can also get dial up for 5-10 bucks a month.  How many of you choose to do that?  Few, I\'d say.  You can\'t rightly say you\'ll pay for broadband, but then say XBL is too expensive.  Xbox online will have leagues, world rankings, game rankings, stats, friend list, chat, paging...you getting something fully featured, and reliable.  Well worth the 50 cents a day it\'ll cost you.

PS2 will be dial up/broadband.  Yes it\'s free, but for how long?  And what if they start charging?  When asked directly, they said it\'ll be free initially, and then avoided the question.  When they start charging, you have a second rate service with a fee.

hihi.. First they were bashing PS2, now they are bashing the WEGAs..

I paid about $1966 for my 32" WEGA (KV-32FX60E - yes its a older model now) when it was new.
And it has been worth every damn cent if you ask me. The quality when watching DVDs blows every other TV\'s away. (or playing games for that matter)

Ive read on professional DVDforums and they all say the same thing.. If you got the money get a WEGA.
Panasonic, Philips, Thomson dont even come close to Sonys Flatscreen TV Tubes.

Some here are forgetting a big factor when prices of any products are concern: name recognition[/u]. Saying that Sony products are overpriced might be true - but then we can go on and argue why Hugo Boss, Armani, Denon, Nike, Addidas and other big brands are so damn expensive.

Anyone know how expensive it is to make a pair of Addidas shoes? Or where they are made? Yup - and then, go have a look how expensive they are in the shops. Sony products may be overpriced, but their products remain usually on top when compared to other cheaper products. Sure there are better/more expensive and worse/cheaper WEGA\'s outthere, but get me a TV with that many functions, that picture quality and easy-to-use menus not to mention the support you get. Sure aren\'t that many, I\'m sure.

Again Watchdog, like YOU said, you get what you pay for, no exceptions.  If you were getting ripped off, you\'d know it.  Like I said, you get what you pay for, you just have to know what your getting.

Okay, Billy, I was going to let this go, because I kind of feel sorry for you.  I didn\'t say no exceptions, but anyway.  With Wegas like Seven said, they are overpriced--you can get a similarily equipped TV for much much less.  You say my big contradiction was I like to eat at expensive restaurants...okay.  Yes there are cheaper places out there to eat (Burger King), but until BK starts serving pan seered, marinated, jumbo garlic shrimp, lobster Tails or Chicken Saint-Florent, there isn\'t no comparison so it\'s not a contradiction.

Seriously, though you have to be the stupidest person on this forum.  I know it\'s sounds like a flame, but I can\'t think of anyone else that posts such vapid, unintelligent responces.  There are people here that I argue with and are annoying, but you are beyond that.  I putting you on my ignore list, because I get stupider just talking to you.

w00t! I made Watchdogs list.

There must be some sort of block in his brain.  You can\'t go around calling me the stupidest person on the forum when I make perfect sense.  Go back to your little clique of Watchdog/Alteredbeast/pstwo/rastalant, and I\'ll enjoy myself here.  What, you\'ve been here less than a year?  Your calling an elder member stupid, tssk tssk, at least Altered Beast can insult people correctly.

If anyone truly believes Billy has an xbox raise your hand...

My point is that I like video games.  It\'s a hobby that I both enjoy and parttake in often.  I spent thousands of dollars on 5.1, HDTV, furnature, and games.  These things make my experience more enjoyable.  The money is well spent.

Sure I could have opted to get a good non-HDTV tube and still enjoyed my hobby.  I could have settled for my old bookshelf speakers and I would still have fun.  My old recliner was fine, but instead I picked the HTT9 by interactive health (with a little help from Santa :)) and very nearly spent double on a higher end model.  Certainly, these things are also used for movies and other things, but video games was a key factor.

The apex of video games right now is online.  The online experience extends any game\'s life almost indefinitely.  Anyone who has played online can scarcely refute this.

But the bane of any online game is lag.  Lag kills the fun and makes it frustrating.  If you want to look at only next year, if spending $50 will give me a better experience, less lag, secure servers and an entire community devoted to stat tracking, content downloads and reliability, then it\'s a paltry sum.

If it makes finding my friends on line easy and getting into a game quickly, it\'s well worth it.  If I can play a FPS without worrying about lag kills, map hackers, and aim bots, then the $50 is worth it by itself.

If after a year, I find that the PS2 is a better option, there isn\'t anything lost beyond the $50.  I would have spend less than any PS2 owner for that first year.  I will also be able to play the best of both systems.

I still can\'t see how XBL is so bad.  Is $50 that precious to all you guys?  Doesn\'t the fact that you\'ll have to spend a couple hundred dollars up front just to go online worry you even a little--keeping in mind that all these "extras" you are buying come stock with an xbox?

All I see here are a bunch of threatened people lashing out at anything that could potentially be an asset to MS.  There is no basis to your arguments.  I can\'t believe that you are so impoverished that the $50 XBL fee will severely diminish your quality of life.
