Is it worth buying SH3, when I have not played SH 1 or 2 before ? Will the whole story be some sort of confusing mess, because I missed the 2 first ? Just wondering.
MM told me to have a 5 line signature. I count now
1
2
and 5th line there it is :)

I pretty much just spelled that out for you.  The RE series has been rehashed to death.  Just like the Silent Hill series will be if they continue to give you the same game every incarnation with a new story and new environment.
Quote

Thanks for agreeing with me.Also add the rehashes began after Resi 2.There is still no SH rehash yet.

Quote

As I just said, the RE series has gone way downhill.  That being already established, the RE series as a whole (including the first three) is overall better than the SH series. IMO.  I don\'t even know why you brought this point up.

The first three? The only GREAT Resident Evil for me was 1.The second was very good and the third.........Not a title worth beingmetioned as a survival horror game.

Quote

In terms of being innovative to the series, it adds a completely new magic/levelling up/battle system with each game.  In fact, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil have both added more gameplay elements with each incarnation to the series (despite being much longer) than the Silent Hill series has.
Quote

No no.Resident Evil adds almost nothing. What they add only make the game more action oriented and less frightening.

Quote

Why do you keep bringing up sales?  Code Veronica and 0 were both poor games (IMO), but sold well.  Who cares?  The same goes for Silent Hill 2.  Poor game that sold well.  What\'s the whole point of bringing up how much it sells?

Because RE doesnt still live because its a great game.Thats what I wanted to proove.BTW:SH2 was a great game.I was disapointed with it but after I found a plot analysis for it it made me see the game from a better approach,It just wasnt as good as the first. It wasnt a poor game exactly.

Quote

And again, look back at my previous point, the more sequals a series produces the more chance it has of them going bad.  Tomb Raider and Resident Evil are perfect examples of that.

Thanks for agreeing. And still sold.See above.

Quote

Let\'s see if you still like it after 3 more rehashes, shall we? :)  And I\'m merely saying that IMO, the Resident Evil series is superior to the Silent Hill series.  I don\'t care if everyone else prefers the Silent Hill series..  I\'m not playing videogames to be popular.. [/B]

I am talking about what it is now.Not about what it MIGHT be in the future.

I never tried to say it\'s still a great game, I said repeatedly that it was losing steam (still quite fun, though..), but that doesn\'t change the fact that as a series, RE has more (better) games, in my opinion.

The plot was fairly easy to follow, and the only good thing about the game.  Reading an analysis would have ruined the only reason to play the game in the first place.

I\'m talking about what it is now, and the games in the past.  That\'s how you determine which series you prefer overall, isn\'t it?  Otherwise you\'d just be comparing the latest iteration in the series.

I agree that its getting tiring but I still look forward to the next one and have had fun with all the true RE\'s...

What was so bad about Nemesis?
July 2002: If you had bought $1000.00 worth of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00. Enron, $16.50 left. Worldcom, $5.00 left. If you had bought $1,000.00 worth of Budweiser beer one year ago, drank it all and turned in the cans for the 10 cent deposit, you would have $214.00. Based on the above, my current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle.

Instead of taking ALL the Resident Evil games lets take the first 3.And lets take ALL the silent hill games which are only three.Hmmm.Nah.Resident Evil doesnt have as good games as the SH.Now if we take all the good resident evil games the ONLY Resident Evil that was truelly horrifying was Resident Evil 1.And ofcourse we are talking (as I said earlier) about a series with more games. Its easier to find more good games. And if we use your own epicheiremas the Resident Evil is worse. How?You suggest the Resident Evil series is better because it has more good games(and ofcourse I explained before why).It also has more bad games.

Fairly easy to follow?Perhaps you didnt get the plot.It was even more complex than SH1.
There are many great games outthere that if someone spoils the plot it ruins the excitement the game is offering.Thats why we use the spoiler alert tag anyways.SH2 was like a movie or a book you shouldnt know the ending or the plot otherwise its ruined. That doesnt make them bad.
But even if I read the plot before I ve playied the game this doesnt make the game less scarier than RE.In fact its still scarier.

Nobody.Only Capcom. If you get what I mean. There is no great resident evil anymore.Still sells.Still a success.Still more sequels, still more popular.Gives the impression of a better game.Even I who prefer the SH series I buy every Resident Evil sequel(except the gun survivor series)

What the fuck monkeys?  This thread is ALL about our opinions.

That\'s fine if that\'s your opinion.  I was expressing my opinion that Resident Evil is better than Silent Hill because it has more good games.  I\'m not trying to claim to be the definitive answer.

BTW, RE has no bad games, SH has 1.  :p

Quote

Well, I also understood MGS2 perfectly my first time through, so maybe I\'m just special.  :):)  But the game was boring and was probably LESS "terrifying" than the other two Silent Hill\'s, and ALL of the Resident Evil\'s.  Meaning, it wasn\'t scary AT ALL (IMO, of course.  :):))

There are many great games outthere that if someone spoils the plot it ruins the excitement the game is offering.Thats why we use the spoiler alert tag anyways.SH2 was like a movie or a book you shouldnt know the ending or the plot otherwise its ruined. That doesnt make them bad.[/quote]

You mis-understood.  IMO, the only reason to play the game was for it\'s plot.  The gameplay was the same as the first one, the puzzles were crap, it wasn\'t scary, and the environments were dull.

Quote
But even if I read the plot before I ve playied the game this doesnt make the game less scarier than RE.In fact its still scarier.

Again, in your opinion.  I thought it to be the least scary out of both of the series\' (as I stated earlier).

100% irrelevant to the discussion.  How much a game sells has absolutely no bearing on my opinion of a game series.  And thus, makes no difference toward my decision.   Which is what the entire thread is all about.  Why bring up sales?
