If it did, I wouldn\'t count it as a part of the core series.  

there is no "core" series

you can\'t pick out the good ones, exclude the pathetic ones, and say the RE series is so great

Make of it what you wish, but as far as I\'m concerned, a completely different game that is just using the franchises name as a buffer is not considered a part of central unit of games.

It\'s like calling Final Fantasy Tactics a Final Fantasy game.  I certainly wouldn\'t do it.  Though, you might..

Crap puzzles in SH2? Aww... u must\'ve never tried higher than "Normal" setting. They were worse than in the original, mind you.

RE puzzles? Decipher the password from the horrendously complex and sprawling diaries with little to no hints for example, in true Resident evil diary fashion, an empty row signifying a page change (do they write stuff on post-it-notes only, with so little text on one page?) :

RE doesnt have bad games?Resi3 was bad.CV was a bit above average.

SH2 wasnt bad.It wasnt as great as the first.

Well, I also understood MGS2 perfectly my first time through, so maybe I\'m just special.    But the game was boring and was probably LESS "terrifying" than the other two Silent Hill\'s, and ALL of the Resident Evil\'s.  Meaning, it wasn\'t scary AT ALL (IMO, of course.  )

Less terryfying that all the other Resident Evils?The only Resident Evil that scared me was Resident Evil1.Only.It was less terrifying than SH1 and 2 but no way less scary than any resident evil.

You mis-understood.  IMO, the only reason to play the game was for it\'s plot.  The gameplay was the same as the first one, the puzzles were crap, it wasn\'t scary, and the environments were dull.

The Gameplay atleast maintained the feel of the first.Unlike The Resident Evil series which is ruined from sequel after sequel.The Puzzles werent that bad.I mean Resident Evil 2 and beyond had more of the same and needed less thinking than Resident Evil1.What enviroments did you want to see?The repeating underground laboratories?The repeating mansions that are supposed to be scary?Its a damn foggy town.All silent hills feature the same town and a similar look.Otherwise it would ruin the game

I dont remember saying its scarier than SH1 and SH3 or as scary.

100% irrelevant to the discussion.  How much a game sells has absolutely no bearing on my opinion of a game series.  And thus, makes no difference toward my decision.   Which is what the entire thread is all about.  Why bring up sales?

And again, look back at my previous point, the more sequals a series produces the more chance it has of them going bad.Tomb Raider and Resident Evil are perfect examples of that.

Resident Evil sells either its bad or good.With other words its prefered.Its just like Tomb Raider where gamers want to own them but sucks as a series.Its not the sales figures I am talking about.Even if Capcom releases worse resident evils than what we have now Resident Evil fans will keep wanting them as long as they maintain the original gameplay mechanics and style.

Come on, you cannot consider Survivor part of the core series. Even Capcom themselves have said this. Resident Evil, the core series, is any installment in the series that furthers the storyline, maintains the playstyle and so on. Survivor is an off based version using the lisence.

Is that to say, that if Tactics was one of the worst you wouldn\'t consider it part of the series? Most likely, you wouldn\'t. It\'d be an exception then.


And I don\'t care, even if you do, Capcom\'s track record with the series is better than Konami\'s has been so far. Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 was both triple A titles, where as Silent Hill was great but Silent Hill 2 was lacking.

While we are on the subject. While Resident Evil\'s stories may be corny, at least the enemies look damn cool. Unlike Silent Hill, which is a bunch of poorly drawn, rejected art projects, in my opinion.

The enemies in SH are not visually disgusting.They are trying to be psychologically disturbing.Although I agree that the enemies in Resis are cooler.



BTW:I am bored of the same old story.There is almost always an underground laboratory, a trator, a huge biological weapon/mutation, a countdown, a huge explosion, a psychopath bad guy.
Its basically the same story with some twists to give the impression of difference.

The story has continued. It has not taken any drastic changes, but it has continued to follow the main characters and the main enemies. Thus, a lot of the same settings.
