One word posts or posts that have nothing to do with the topic at hand. These are posts that I consider spam and would do my best to try and erradicate spam.

Personally, I think it should be a young adult to a adult oriented site. I have no problem with the hot babes thread. But the boundaries shouldn\'t be crossed. If they are, the member should be banned for a week or two and the content removed. The girls in bikinis and thongs are fine by me. If you want to share nudity, it stays in e-mail or PMs.


6) What would you do to rekindle the spirit of the forums and make them appealing once again to those users who have moved on or are considering just that? Is a change even necessary?

I think more contests in the forums would make an appeal to new members or even the old members. Contests like photoshop contests, caption contests and the member awards should be made more common. A prize doesn\'t have to be awarded, just the bragging rights. They could be judged by mods and admins.

7) Which mod do you feel has abused his powers and how would you be an improvement?

I really haven\'t seen much abuse of power in the boards so I have no comment.

8) Are there any members that you are surprised the mods have or have not banned?

Members like Spudz and swif are told to have been banned on several occasions. I personally don\'t think they should be (sorry to use you two as an example). They don\'t break the rules, just express their personality in their own way. Unless a member breaks the rules, they shouldn\'t be banned. If they act up, they should be told that they are and possibly even a temporary ban.

9) What mod would you most like to see have his powers pulled?

Like stated earlier, the mods have a job to do. They seem to be doing their job to keep the forums clean. I think none should have their power pulled.

EDIT: Ok, being nice is overrated, I wouldn\'t like to see Titan as a moderator because I personally feel the only thing he brings to the table is a post count.

Definitely "Rants and Raves". People always seemed to get a good flaming after they finish crying. Good reads. Just think about it, if it were around at the time, my "Ugh... I\'m pissed" threads would have been produced in Rants and Raves.

3) What do you consider Spam and is it really all that bad?

Spam is simply not contributing to the thread, in any manner. You don\'t necessarily have to stay on topic, but use your own intuition in what would be best for the thread. You can be funny, you can say something controversial, but the worst thing is when you state the obvious or simply post something with no effect at all. Kopking is the king of all spammers and his posts provide an excellent example.

Pfffft... The internet is full of free pornography, and a few pictures of half-naked women will hardly offend anybody. I think the idea of an "Adult Forum" is stupid, and everything is fine the way it is. However, because this place is called, "psx2central.com" and its theme encompasses a videogame system, I think its a good idea to leave any nude photos out. If you guys want to get off, there are millions of better places on the net then these forums.

Although I wouldn\'t be the guy to do it, this place needs a FREAKING HOMEPAGE. I\'ve said it so many times, that if this place wants to rack in more interesting and new members, it has to have some foundation. The Madden site is a perfect example... It is always acquiring new members  because there is a wonderful site behind it. You have to bring in new members  in order to keep the old ones to stay around. Diversity is important.

I don\'t feel he abuses his powers, but if I could rank a top three members on this board least suitable to be a moderator, ooseven would make it. He\'s so incoherent that I guess in the beginning Bjorn was very desperate for moderators.

Everybody here plays by the rules and banning should always be a complete last resort. Piracy, n00bs advertising sites, blatant pornography should be insta-bans. A member acting up, flaming, etc. are not bannable offenses unless it becomes incessant.

I wouldnt like to see it, but I certainly couldn\'t care less if ooseven lost his reigns because the guy is a moron, to put it nicely.

 I honestly tried to pick someone out of the nominees to put on the spot, but I really couldn\'t say whoe I wouldn\'t want to not be a mod.  I guess I\'d say Gman, because if he\'s a mod, who\'s going to close his crap threads

 I think that the obvious answer here is the Rants and Raves forum.  I\'ve read alot of arguments in favor of bringing back this  forum and I agree that it needs to make a comeback.  There are many threads that could be posted in that forum that are just a little too OT for OT, and people really should have a place to express their feelings and such.

3) What do you consider Spam and is it really all that bad?
  I personally don\'t consider the ocassional short responce as spam, spam IMO is a responce that has to reason to be typed and doesn\'t deserve to be read.  Not many people here post any real spam, besides the occasional "lol" post, and even those aren\'t overflowing in the forum anymore.

That is Kopking-anese for "I really think that is how the guy is on the weekend"  Obviously refering to sammy\'s fetish with dressing up like videogame characters on the weekends.

The average age in this forum is basically around 16-25, far from a child age, thus this forum shouldn\'t really be tailored to younger eyes.  If it were, the majority, if not all members would quickly leave for places that they can identify with better.  However, their have been certain threads that could offend people of all ages, I don\'t consider the Hot Babes threads offensive as long as they aren\'t showing nips and such, and are hopefully labeled in a way that people can avoid them if they wish to.  However, their have been some threads that have been very offensive and IMO those are the real things we should watch out for.  As a mod, I would try to guide the topic away from the offensive subject matter, and if it didn\'t work it would be time to warm up the old lock button.

6) What would you do to rekindle the spirit of the forums and make them appealing once again to those users who have moved on or are considering just that? Is a change even necessary?

IMO, their isn\'t much you can do to influence whether people stay, or leave, you can only try to make the place as good as you can and hope that other\'s enjoy their stay.  Possibly spending a bit of time and try to create one thread a day that actually spurs an intellectual discusion or a heated debate, the religion threads are examples of this.  It seems most people just come here to relax and post here and there, and maybe if a mod or two took the initiative to make some threads that inspire thought, it could help bring this place back to it\'s old glory.

7) Which mod do you feel has abused his powers and how would you be an improvement?
Not sucking up, but I\'d say none.  God only knows that if a mod really abused his power, everyone here would be bitching about it for days.

8) Are there any members that you are surprised the mods have or have not banned?
Vapor in his earlier days was a handful, and of course spudz.  Jumpman had his problems too, but banning has always been reserved for members who went completly over the line, and no current long term members have ever done so.

  Any of the canidates I think would be able to handle the mod spot in OT fairly well.  We\'ve all been here enough time to know whats not allowed and what is, though some push the envelope.  But Cyrus has put the least quality time at the forums so even though he may make a good mod I don\'t think he is deserving quite yet.

2) What forum would you like to create/come back?

  The gaming forums didn\'t get enough flow so I\'d say the Rants and Raves forum.  It served its purpose, when people needed to complain or bitch they could go there and spill.  It might be a lot like OT but would keep things more in order.

  I would say it\'s one liner post that don\'t really add anything to the forum.  Responding with a laughing smiley isn\'t a post, it\'s +1 to their post count.

  It would all depend what you consider adult oriented.  Since a lot of forum members come here at 16, including myself when I was first here, we should keep things pretty how much how they are right now.  Scantily clad women is good enough, no nudity.

I\'m starting to realize we aren\'t completely fair to new members and seem to almost make it an exclusive club.  Maybe just start giving more respect to new people but other than that I\'d say I like the enviroment.

  ooseven had abused his power before but I pm\'d him about it and we were able to just talk about it and figure things out.  That was just one instance though and has been fixed so I would say I would just keep things straight like they are right now.  I would also give a reason for every closing of a thread and occasionally PM members if I\'ve had to delete a handful of their post.

8) Are there any members that you are surprised the mods have or have not banned?

  Some dislike spudz but even he adds to the forums and keeps things decent.  I really don\'t think anybody right now deserves to be banned and I don\'t know of any members that should be unbanned.

  I don\'t think any mods status should be revoked right now.  A couple had not been showing up but that all was worked out.

I would love some genre specific forums, to encourage more games posting. Not too many, but I would love a racing forum (gimme that to mod and I\'ll be happy). This is a games forum so we need to encourage more games stuff.

I am so over this topic. What one person considers as spam is totally new and exciting information to another. The OT board was literally made for spam...

Its a games site, so you gotta remember kids come here. The way it is is just fine. I think things get too seedy if you create \'adult\' sections of the forum etc because within a week it\'ll be hardcore porn and thats just pathetic. If you want porn, you know where to go.... babes that have their pink bits covered, now thats another story.

Its fine the way it is. If members aren\'t enjoying the experience then thats their problem. Unless its like half our readership leaving then whats the problem?

No one really. I think Ryu and LIC can get carried away but they are the two mods I respect the most. mm just needs a personality makeover. He is just too cynical.

Not really. Spudz maybe, but he is just funny cause he makes an ass out of himself.

Probably No-One, only because to me he doesn\'t seem to do much \'modding\' so why bother having the power if your not going to use it? There are instances where other mods have spoken up about certain things that he seems to have ignored. Great guy, just doesn\'t seem to do anything. I could be wrong though.

Ok, changing my answer.  I\'ll go with Cyrus.  A minor reason is he\'s too new to the forums.  The major one is that he\'s too argumentative and just doesn\'t fit the personality of what a mod should be.  I could see him causing a situation to escalate or picking a fight with a member just as easily as I could see him stopping something.

I would most like to see Rants and Raves come back.  I posted this before.  It was my favorite forum outside of Off Topic.  When it was closed, the reasoning was that we could just post the same things in Off Topic, but it doesn\'t work the same way.  It seems like the same sorts of topics don\'t happen...they aren\'t encouraged enough without their own forum.  I loved reading those threads and bitching along with other people about things we both hated.  So I\'d bring that back for sure.

I consider spam to be any post that is short and adds absolutely nothing to the thread in any way.  Now, the thing about that is that I have a pretty loose definition of what actually adds to a thread.  If there\'s something you wanted to post for an actual reason except to raise your post count by one, then it isn\'t spam.  I think spam is bad when it gets in the way of a thread and really makes it hard to read, but I think that very rarely happens.

Basically, I think things are good as they are right now.  Most of the people here are not little children.  I\'d guess right now it\'s mostly late teens and early twenties.  So there is no reason to force everyone here to change their posting style in case younger kids should wander on.  There isn\'t anything here that you can\'t see on TV.  We have a language filter, and we have no nudity rules.  Basically, I figure as long as we stick with that, we\'re fine.  No kid is gonna be scarred by coming here, but we can still have fun.  It\'s a good balance.  If you want more freedom, use the PM\'s.

I think that the main problem right now is that the website is down, and it\'s hard to attract new members.  I think that the only way to really rekindle that spirit is to keep the place fresh by having new members come to the forums.  I think there are possibly other things that could be done to keep it fresh too.  Maybe even just some sort of gimicks.  I mean, this mod thing seems like it has created a lot of excitement, as an example.  Maybe we could name a member of the month or member of the week or something, and give someone who\'s started good topics and posted well some sort of star next to their name or something.  Besides that, I just think some sort of change every once in a while, something to keep it fresh.  Maybe if we could encourage more people from the Madden league to post in other forums that would help too.

This is gonna be a non specific answer, but I\'m gonna say mods who just go around and close threads without an explaination.  I can\'t single these people out, because they don\'t post in the threads saying why they\'re closing them before they do.  They just close them, so I don\'t know who it is.  However, I think if you close a thread, you owe an explaination as to why.  Sometimes it isn\'t so obvious, and if you don\'t give an explaination, then members don\'t definitely know what was wrong to avoid it in the future.  I think if you\'re stepping in to end someone else\'s conversation, you at least owe an explaination.

Well, I don\'t go to all the forums.  I never really went to main much, so I don\'t know about what it\'s like there.  That\'s why I\'d want to be an off topic mod.  However, I don\'t see anyone here who should be banned.  No one has been that destructive to the forums, so there is no need to get rid of anyone.

None.  No one abuses their powers so much, so why pull anyone?  I figure you pull someone when they either become inactive or really start abusing their powers, and I think everyone is fine right now.

I would say yes, leave them open.  Move Rants and Raves up in the forum listing and have them on the bottom.  I don\'t think the forums look cluddered as they are right now, so what\'s the point of taking that away from the people that do use them?

Also, I used them at one point.  And I really liked at that few times other members...mm and Rya come to mind, commented on my entries.  Although you could log your thoughts elsewhere, and I in fact do, that isn\'t something that you have access to elsewhere.  So I would definitely say keep them.

I would say leave the journals, leaving them causes no problems but removing them hurts the members who use the forum.  Also, it\'s a journal if you remove the forum you also remove the recorded memories that many members may like to read back over and remember what their life was like at a certain time.

Having the journals area is something that sets us apart from atleast other forums.  Some things may be able to be covered in rants and raves instead of the journals but sometimes I just want to put things on paper instead of hearing everyones immediate response.  Unless they\'re causing a problem I say keep both.

I would say Bozco for the fact that for some reason he feels that just because he has more post than I it means that he has been here longer or put more quality time here. You are so out of touch. I\'m a lurker I read every thread and am here almost all day my job as a WEB DESIGNER makes it possible for me to sit in front of this blasted thing all day. I only post to the threads that I feel I can actually contribute to!

Come back - Off Topic. This is a great site and I have seen it dwindle terribly over the past 2 years I really think that some things need to be done to bring back the greatness of this site and help it migrate to include the PS3 when it comes out. Part of the appeal is the off topic forum I remember how cool it was when it took over the main forum in post count.

Defiantly not adult I would hate to loose the young uns I have come to know and love. PG13 I think that would be appropriate. I would hope it wouldn’t become an adult oriented site but by definition anything could be "acceptable" (that was a trick question wasn\'t it). I would thoroughly not enjoy anything that was posted that showed male nakedness. If you want that go someplace else........ or PM me for the ones vid sent to me of himself.

CHANGE IS A BIG YES. As a web designer and owner of my own hosting and web design company my first project would be to build a new ps2central.com (for free of course) that actually was appealing at least a little. The forums would only be an extension of this site not the basis.

I think that any mod that closes a thread without a little explanation of why they closed it has abused his or her powers. So everyone is a least a little guilty of it.

No the mods have done a very good job for the most part I mean they are all human, I think..... but there has been several occasion I would have been very close on hitting the happy button on potato spudz
