MLB Playoffs - Can this year top last years?

Besides I\'d much rather have the Yankees knocking out the Red Sox again this year than anyone else, I just picked the Angels because they were so hot at the end of the season and were on a roll.

hot meaning that they beat the texas rangers starting chan ho park and the fading A\'s... real impressive.

As for me, yeah I didn\'t make picks, I don\'t like to get ahead of myself, I\'m a take it one by one kinda guy.  Picking the Sox to get swept was absurd though.

Yeah, were in real bad shape our number two starter is Pedro Martinez, by god what will we ever do?

Ok enough sarcasm, I\'m just tired of Yankee fans rubbing their 26 world championships in everyone\'s faces like they deserved every one of them.  It makes me sick, i mean god, think of what a little parity could do.  Oh well, the Yankees are going no where with that rotation, although I do think they can beat the twins if Brown pitches well tomorrow.

Angels in three... hhehee, that was funny.

Why don\'t they deserve every one of them?

Do the Red Sox deserve their 5 more than the Yankees deserve their 26?

Let me put it to you this way...

Microsoft is to computers like the Yankees are to baseball.

There\'s a thing called resources, if everyone had an equal number of resources, I don\'t think they\'d have 26 world championships.

Not our fault, the Red Sox have nearly as many as the Yankees do so don\'t give me that line of crap. Championships are earned so don\'t try to take anything away from those that would be unfair and stupid. You use the system and the Yankees just use it that much better than anyone else. Its called mo< MOmentum, thats what I was going off, the Angels had to finish the last half of the year hot to come into the world series,  the Angels aren\'t out of it yet, its a long shot but still its there.

Besides you act like the Red Sox\'s staff was that great, other than Pedro and Schilling what is left Wakefield? Lowe? Wasn\'t what he was 2 years ago. Yankees have Mussina, Brown and El Duque and a really good pen. You can\'t have so many comeback wins without a good pen.

....wow

Don\'t even compre the Yankees staff to the Red Sox staff. That\'s absolutley ridiculous. You have officially revealed the homer in you with that statement. Utter idiocy.

See Yuz.
What do Kerry Wood, Mark Prior, Matt Clement, and Carlos Zambrano have in common?

They\'re the pieces to the next great pitching rotation of our time, what else?

The Red Sox pitching staff, this year, makes the Yankees crew look like s**t.. and that\'s with Pedro\'s worst career ERA and Derek Lowe doubling his 2002 ERA.

At least right now, this is true. Mussina is great, but like Pedro.. was way off his career pace this year. Brown was muddled with injuries and stunk. El Duque is great, but is now injured. Lieber was steady, but mediocre. Vasquez fell apart shortly after the season began. Of course, the bullpen has been pretty good. Obviously Rivera, who hasn\'t lost a step in his 8 seasons as the best closer in the AL.. with a very strong Gordon and Quantrill setting him up.

The Red Sox have all of their guys clicking right now, though. Obviously Pedro "rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated" Martinez and Schilling have been overall dominant.. but you can\'t forget Bronson Arroyo. Pegged as a no.5 starter but started Game 3 of the ALDS today and leads 6-1 going into the 7th.. he is why the Red Sox are definitely better than the Yanks pitching-wise this season. 3 great starters, a great change-up in 2003 ALCS dominator Tim Wakefield, and a fantastic (if streaky) bullpen that includes 2003 AL Fireman of the Year Foulke and 2 guys that had a microscopic ERA in the post-season last year.. Mike Timlin and Alan Embree.

Pedro needs to cut that shit off his head, and maybe he\'d get off the schnide, hopefully he doesn\'t though.

It\'s been a case of missing velocity and the lack of location for Petey. Without those belt-high 82MPH cutters over the plate.. his HR total would be at least 20% lower. The change-up has been especially unhittable this year, but the fastball has been off. Curveball.. on and off.

Oh yeah, Red Sox sweep in 10 innings. Bring on either Santana or Mussina, bitches.

Red Sox have one on in the 10th... 2 outs... Scisosia brings in his ace Washburn to finish off the the lefty Ortiz.. swing and SAY HELLO LAH FRAH! RED SOX SWEEP as Ortiz cranks it into the Monster Seats!

Sox sweep 3-0, so much for your picks mike.

I expect the Yankees to win tonight, lose against santana, and then win on Sunday.

Oh and money does talk look at the 1997 Marlins, PRIME EXAMPLE.

We have three quality starters, Schilling, Pedro, and Arroyo, that\'s all we need in a three game set.   See ya in the ALCS.

gg, but Francona should have left Arroyo in. He was cruising, FFS.. it was just a walk!

Only 92 pitches; you gotta give the starter a shot at 7 IP in that situation. Would\'ve done it for Pedro or Schilling at that pitch count..

I personally was impartial to the game, but I of course am a big Darin Erstad fan (Former Huskers always get much love from me)...that 7th inning to me was absolutley hilarious. There was no way Timlin was going to strike out Erstad like he was trying to -- Erstad\'s one of the best contact hitters in the game. Walks in the run, and that pitch to Guerrero was right down the middle of the plate.

Basically, the Red Sox should be fortunate that Scoscia put in his struggling ace Jarrod Washburn (hasn\'t been himself all year) instead of Troy Percival, and that was the final straw. Big Pappi\'s a badass, and ended the game with one swing. There\'s no way to measure how great of a pickup he was from the Twins in the FA market 2 years ago. He\'s been simply incredible.

That is why I have complete faith in the Red Sox this year.

They have NEVER been this good.
