this forum is pure evil

so there you go (yet again) comparing it to Ps2 titles

you should know that is hardly a way to insult me, or drag me into a console vs console debate.

what was halo\'s competition on the xbox?

1)other decent games didnt have competition on XBOX in launch but never got the same praise
2)Timesplitters1 didnt have competition on PS2 when it was released yet it was never praised  as much as Halo
3)If the game sucks it sucks.You arent forced to buy it.Halo1 is not.Even the few flaws the game has cant make it a bad game.Great games with flaws arent few
4)You said Sales=king.Thanks for admiting the greatness of Halo1 ;)
Nithing else matters.SALES=KING

Why dont you ever put some effort to see the point of other people\'s arguements?But why do I ask?Its just doesnt satisfy your interest
This isnt an example of PS2 and XBOX comparisson funny man.Its a comparisson of how well a game without competition did compared to another that belongs in the same genre.

Timesplitters=FPS=No competition when released=praise
and
Halo=FPS=No competition when released=more praise than Timesplitters1

get it?
It cant get simpler than that.If you still dont get it you should probably take some IQ tests.

Oh, and TimeSplitters as a FPS had no competition, but as a game it was overwhelmed by other competition. SSX was the big system seller at launch, Madden then took over after that. In fact, you\'re playing into mm\'s hands in that the PS2 had a lot of quality games and the sales were split between them. I don\'t think any of the major PS2 launch games sold particularly more than any other.. perhaps Midnight Club, SSX and Tekken Tag were the biggest.

I prefer Ginko\'s arguement. Other FPS\'s are available at the moment on the XBox, some of which are considered by many to be worthy competitors to Halo (TimeSplitters 2 being the best example, IMO) however it dropped off the face of the planet after a few weeks. Yet, Halo is still continuing to power on.

And I still don\'t think you understand what mm means when he says Sales = King.

Well, first of all there were some quality titles available on Xbox at launch.  Dead or Alive 3 and Project Gotham Racing both achieved over one million in sales whether you like it or not.

Second I think it\'s important to mention that the game, Halo, has moved into a third of the entire userbase for Xbox.  A mediocre game would not move that many units on any account.  There were options on PS2, perhaps not so good but they were there.  There have also been games released since then, on all three consoles, that have dropped off the radar.  Halo was and remains an attractive choice.  The game is a system seller, the reviews have proved it and the fact that it\'s still on the top 10 sales almost three years later prove it.

Shame on Bungie for releasing a good game?  I really don\'t see what you\'re trying to prove here.  The bottom line is that Halo has sold 5.5 million, remains a top seller, and the sequel is coming out very soon with a record setting pre-sale.

I came here looking for leaked pics of Halo 2 and Jesus, I can\'t beleive you guys are still having the same argument as you did when I left, what....two years ago? haha

Ginko has made a devastating argument, but the response will be pc port, bad textures, framerate, etc (this applies to all things xbox).  Even though the sales, reviews, preorders and popular opinion suggests otherwise.

I\'ve been away, fill me in, has mm EVER liked a mainstream, popular xbox game?  I think I already know the answer. :)

It must be killing a certain minority of people around here that 1. Xbox has become cool 2. Xbox has outsold PS2 in monthly sales 3. Xbox has the most hyped, preordered game ever  4. Xbox has had many excellent exclusive games.

I almost wish I were here to see that.

Let me first of all say that I have a grin from ear to ear.  Very cool to see you stop by.

mm hasn\'t changed much since you left, if anything his posts have become less of a witty comic relief to just plain annoying.  If you want a laugh take a look at the Fable thread in this forum.  You can\'t miss it, it\'s about 14 pages long and had no signs of slowing down until mm locked it.  I made a spin-off thread, "the state of gaming", from one of his comments in the fable thread.

You haven\'t missed all that much regarding Xbox, most of what you\'re referring to can be found in the last month worth of posts.  I never bothered posting that Xbox has been neck and neck with PS2, outselling it a few times.

Anyway, good to see you.:)

lol, shifting subjects again?  Why don\'t you try and address any of the points I\'ve made?  I\'d be impressed if you bothered with one of them.
