Halo 2 = most reserved game in history

personally, screw multiplayer halo. (aside from coop, untill you beat it))
split screen sucks (5 fps), and dragging 4 Tv\'s into one room = the lame

BUT, but, but  people do it BECAUSE there\'s no other option on the xbox

....hence its sales.
....hence its presales for halo 2

It gets more people together than any other game in recent memory.  It\'s not just an xbox thing.  It\'s obviously better than you give it credit for if people get tvs together to play.  Also 4 tv\'s isn\'t a big deal when it\'s a college house where theres already a lan and tvs in each guys room.  But you\'re old now so yea, scratch that.

Let\'s get one thing clear, nobody was forced to buy Halo or an Xbox.  Almost THREE YEARS later people still aren\'t forced to buy Halo or Xbox yet it remains in the top ten best selling games despite there being MANY other options on Xbox and other consoles.

Halo was in no way groundbreaking but it did so much right.  The game is fun for ALOT of people even to this day.  Halo 2\'s presales are riding off of that succcess.

Spin in all you want but at least try and make some sense.

No.Halo1 sold well because its a good game.It may have its flaws but they are not such a huge issue.They are enough to prevent it from being a perfect FPS but not enough to prevent it from being a good title.I still havent seen a 100% flawless game anyways.

And I dont get the logic of the last part?What do sales have to do with its supposed "flawed that leaves no choice" multiplayer mode you are complaining about and what does it have to do with Halo2\'s presales?
1)First of all Halo1 was a superb first gen(that alone says a lot) title for the XBOX.
2)Secondly you are bitching about a 4 year old game.
3)Many issues on Halo1 have been corrected in Halo2
4)This time the game is online if I am not mistaken so no TVs, no extra copies, no extra XBOXs.
5)You didnt play Halo2 so you have no opinion
6)You are always complaining anyways
7)Will you please respect other people\'s opinions that like the game?You think you know whats best for everybody while nobody knows whats best for their selves, and that everyone should follow your tastes.

A story in the Seattle Times that features a few surprising comments on the Xbox and Xbox Live Arcade has been making the rounds today. To get to the bottom of some of the article\'s more head-scratching assertions, GameSpot contacted a Microsoft representative for clarification.


To wit, the story\'s report that more than 1 million presales have been recorded for Halo 2 is "premature and speculative," said the Microsoft rep. Official numbers have preorders for the highly anticipated sequel at 750,000 units.

Whether or not this constitutes "the highest presale in the history of video games" is also disputed. Some reports put preorders for 2002\'s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City at more than 4 million, but Microsoft asserts that to its knowledge, the title "did not presell more than 1 [million] units." The discrepancy probably arises from the two different definitions of "preorder." One definition involves retailers\' orders, while the other involves customers whose money has been put down in advance of a game\'s release.

Was from the second link in the initial post. One would think that the two games you mentioned would have been FAR more than 1 million.

Agree\'d. Doom 3 is a gorgeous game, but a severe letdown gameplay wise. Haven\'t tried Far Cry yet - too busy with City of Heroes.

Thats why everyone is different. Because I hated red faction. I thought it was horrible. I am not a huge fps person. But I enjoyed playing halo.

I only pre-order halo2 because at EB games they made me pre-order halo in order to buy live 05 the day it released.

 They claim they where giving me somenone\'s pre-order. I just put the 5 bucks down. I know they just wanna count numbers for halo.
