As for me, Im gonna spend almost a grand on an Alienware computer that will make the PS3 look like a Coleco Vision.

Out of all this, I think the most amusing thing is the critisim MS got when comin\' into this market, no one wanted a "pc-console", but now Sony has turned around and are making it even more a PC...

LIC, I didn\'t really follow that either, unless you\'re talking about ports and the harddrive, but even with 360, that\'s so far over most people\'s heads (including mine) it doesn\'t figure into anything.

I disagree. Memory cards are a pain in the ass, in my opinion. Standard harddrives and an option to get those saves out of there in the event of switching systems is perfect. There were exactly two benefits to cartridges, and a permanent save was one of them.

they add 100$ to the cost of a console without barely any other advantage.

why not 1GB solid state memory? (mucho cheap, these days)

Yeah, they should just include a standard SD card slot on consoles, and provide a small 32meg card with each new console package.  Owners can insert a bigger card if they desire, and it would solve the "proprietary memory card vs. hard drive" problem.
 
Of course every manufacturer except Nintendo dreams of their console becoming the "family media center" in some future Jetsons household.  Crazy nonsense if you ask me.
