Xbox at Xlaunch

It looks like I\'ll get an Xbox. It\'s not looking to good for PS2. EA is going 3 ways. Xbox, Gamecube and Ps2. It is clear that EA will shift their exclusive focus to Xbox. Ps2 will probably come in 2nd this console war. I am wating for Xlaunch! (I\'m so corny)

You? Mister. Anti MS? Swallowed your pride?!? Nah, just kidding. The Xbox is very likely going to dominate and its set to be a great console. I\'m excited about it.

It\' doesn\'t mean I\'m not supporting Sony either I support both parties now.

It\'s a wait and see approach.....Sony may surprise us...

It\'s a toss up now.

I don\'t understand it.  What games will XBox have?  Why are you ignoring the Gamecube?  We still don\'t know enough about XBox and Gamecube.  Sheesh - every time I turn around, I see someone else reading their crystal ball.  Sega and Nintendo will just go out of business will Sony/Microsoft get 100 million sales apiece.

This DESPITE the XBox being unknown to casual gamers.  Despite the XBox having no exclusive, recognizable franchises (other than the Sony hand-me-downs).  Casual gamers don\'t wait for systems.  They buy it when they can afford it - the little critters get so goldarn excited.  They don\'t know diddly jack about XBox or Gamecube.  You wanna tell millions of people to "just wait" this holiday season?  If you\'re not willing to do that, then you need to realize that both the PS2 and Dreamcast will have millions of users by the time XBox gets here.

Let me summarize all the posts:

"Say - who do you think will win the next console war?"
"Well, whoever is the most powerful, of course!"

This frustration you\'re going through with PS2\'s small library will happen again when the XBox launches (are specs finalized yet? how \'bout the launch list?) and when Gamecube launches.  It also happened with the Dreamcast.  People get a system at launch, poop themselves with excitement, buy the 4 games they wanted... and run home giggling like school girls.  Then, after 2 weeks, they\'re bored with their new launch system because they\'ve beaten the games (they only have 4!).  It happens with every launch.

I will be getting an X-Box, on launch if I have any money, or maybe not, we\'ll have to see :)
I am also getting:

PS2
GC
rereleased Game Gear
Game Boy Color (never got one, now that DW3 is gonna be on it, gotta get it!)
Game Boy Advance
maybe Indrema.

I dont know bout the last one, I have many systems that never got over 50 games, but I dont know if this one will even have 20 games for it :)

Everyone listen to this man...........I\'m not buying a damn X-Box, he\'s right about this.  This is just PS2 as a baby now, it hasn\'t grown up yet.

Thanks man for making me realize this, before I make the biggest mistake buying the X-Box.

Here is the problem with that logic. The Xbox is starting the same as Sony. No franchises. Its not a PS2 hand me down or what not though. Really though, the Xbox is set to do what Sony did 5 years ago. Its not a mistake to buy one. Wait and see? Thats smart. Rush and buy one? Premature, but I\'ll do it, because I believe MS has a hit console on their hands.

I ignore Nintendo because I know that even if they screw up again and only grab a hand full of 3rd party devs and only release kidie-teen (MickyMouse-PD) I will still buy the NGC for Miyamoto and Rare.

Ktulu: Oddworld, Halo (both very recognizable), New Legends and Yager come to mind as exclusives.  Plus we havent even hit GameStock and E3 yet where MS will actually show the games they have going on.  Have you seen the X-Isle demo?  Imagine playing that on a fixed platform with FSAA, Bumo Mapping, PerPixel lighting and full hardware support for cubemapping!

No.  No one should feel bad about buying a PS2.  They are not going to get GT3 anywhere else (looking so sweet BTW!) and if square stays exclusive then anyone with a hardcore gamer inside would have to buy one at some point anyway. :)

But the point is:  Why not get excited?  It is a very cool console with alot of smart, creative people behind it.  I know this is starting to sound a bit trite but it is a great time for gamers.

The tide is turning.  I\'m getting an X-box... it has a 95% chance of being very bad ass.  I\'m keeping the PS2 too... but there\'s going to be great games for both.

Question: A game comes out on both X-box and PS2. You own both consoles. All else being equal... WHICH VERSION WOULD YOU BUY???
