Reasons why gaming will become more popular!

I noticed this this new years eve... adults who have never owned or played a console before were VERY interested in SSX on my playstation 2...
Why?
The graphics!
The graphics got them interested, then when they gave it a chance and played it they were astounded and are remarkably going to buy one!
Then when told it also could play DVD\'s they were even happier beaucse they did not yet own a DVD player! And they were not disapointed at all when told they could buy one most likely in march...

Now that graphics are to the point they are, I belive that gaming will become MUCH more popular then it has been the last millienum! Its a bright gaming future and year ahead!

The playstation 2 is looking to capture the casual auidence, by including a DVD player, have a large varity of games and including the PSX library and having the "sony" name everybody knows. They seem to have something that will break barriers this generation.

I forgot to mention though...

Let just hope that gaming compaines remember that the gameplay is the key... and not forget about it and have an "all graphics" gaming season.

ok, i am not getting envlolved in the pokemon thing at all hehe. But what i found out was that most adults own these systems already, and wouldnt even let their kids near them for the graphics(i think is to harse). Also, that sure they find the system amazing with the looks feelings, speed, and of course the DVD, but the price gets them everytime. The fact of paying that much for a video game system, scares them away. The true hard core gamer of course buys the products up, and considers the price a minor setback, for the DVD-rom, alone. As DVDs now can be very expenive.

I can\'t see anyone  older then 10 enjoying Pokemon Snap. Just for the record.

Now here is what I don\'t get. Your trying to base the arguement that Nintendo doesn\'t produce "kiddie games", yet they admit that their demographic has mostly been the under 15 market. The made very few efforts to reach the older ages, \'cept with Perfect Dark, GoldenEye and now Conkers Bad Fur Day. They say the will try and reach the mature auidences with the GameCube, and thats fine.

But currently and since Nintendo started with the NES. They have always been targeting the younger gamers.
That isn\'t a bad thing. I\'m not saying it is. I\'m just trying to figure out how your trying to argue that fact, Trin.

And for the record. I love so called "kiddie games". Mario, Zelda, Kirby all kick ass. But, I still don\'t deny the fact that they are exactly that--kiddie games.
