Gamecube is supposedly VERY cheap to make. I doubt it will cost more than $200.

I haven\'t seen you be this defensive and craptacular in a loooooong time.  You disappoint me.  I had a great deal of respect for you when you became a moderator, I saw a huge turn around in your attitude and it was all good.

Same for 00seven, you all seem a little scared.  

You go a make rash and unreasonable statements such as, "GC will never be the top console", "Nintendo only makes kiddy games and will only appeal to that market".  Absolutely nothing to back up those statements.  The GC is a brand new system, brand new games, and a lot of diverse developers. Nintendo is going for a brand new look, and they won\'t have a problem doing so.

Why couldn\'t Nintendo sell GC at a loss.  Sony does it, they make money from the games and accessories.  And don\'t even try to tell me Nintendo doesn\'t have money.

And DON\'T tell me Nintendo doesn\'t sell any more.  Did you see how many preorders there are in Japan for the Gameboy Advanced?  Close to 3 million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  That\'s alot for a company who doesn\'t appeal to mass market (that one\'s for you ddaryl)

Off the software, like everyone else...

DC, PS2, PSX, N64, etc.  all sold at a loss.  WHY? To get a big installed base quickly.  When that\'s happening, more people by games (software).  Software is were the profit is...make sense?

Why would they all choose to make exlusives for Sony only?  This doesn\'t make any sense.  And how do you know how many 3rd party develepors are on GC?  Do you work for Nintendo?  How do you know Nintendo isn\'t keeping it all secret.  They are pretty good at that you know.  Since when did you speak for the majority of the gaming public?  I don\'t want you speaking for me.

  If 150 is true I bet a lot more people will buy it.  You know it\'s not about the money sometimes though: for example if the ps2 were 400 on lunch day, I\'m pretty sure it would still be sold out fast

haven\'t you people even studyed economics ?

the reason why i am soo up tight about this is that, there is NO way in HELL that Nintedo would be able to sell this console at this price.

Even if Demand out striped supply they would still not be able to make a profit.

they make a GC at $100 say
they sell it to EB or game\'s stores for $130
They then sell it at $150

Total profit per unit for Nintendo $30
Total profit for stores $20

and thats not including shipping costs , Tax , Land Tax for the Nintendo empire, Wages for the workers, money for PR and Ad\'s, Money for Recerch and development, etc etc etc

i can here Nintendo saying " oh please please take my money away, i don\'t need it"
