Pft, read the book of Mormon with an open mind?  Easy for you to say, considering all you\'ve done is keep a closed mind about other religions/scinces because you believe Mormonism to be the ultimate truth.

And as clarification, not all use religion as a crutch, but simply as an explination for the way things are and how to go about living life.  Guidelines, not statues.

how do you know that I have been Mormon my whole life?

Making assumptions, eh?

Read the book!

I have, what, now you\'re making assumptions.  Oh, and I was discussing this whole KJV thing with one of my Mormon friends, she says that it\'s nothing more than a preference.  Not necesarilly that the KJV is any better/more accurate than any other version.

UPDATE:  My point was that no matter how much you\'ve changed your mind in the past, and now you\'re set on what you have now, shouldn\'t mean that you should be so sure you\'ve gained any ultimate truth.  To err is human.

How long has your friend been LDS? Because We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. The perfect translation of the Bible is found in the LDS KJV Bible.

It is not a preference thing. We don\'t use different versions of the Bible to convey a point just because that version has what we are talking about. We ONLY use the KJV version.

I really would like to close this whole translation thing.  We\'ll just have to disagree on this, but I have one last thought:

There is no perfect translation.  The original text is in its truest form, and any translation at all will create error.

A translation inspired and directed by God would be perfect, wouldn\'t it?

And that is what we believe we have in the LDS KJV Bible.

Well, you got me there.  Or maybe it\'s just because it\'s 3 hours past my bedtime.  Don\'t get me wrong, I still don\'t agree with you, but now I finally understand why you\'re so stuck in the LDS KJV.

Troglodyte, you are obviously a very smart person when it comes to religion.  You have read all three main versions of the Bible, and are open minded about each of the books.  My point is if you are so open minded, why don\'t you at least give the Book of Mormon a chance.  I am also challanging you to read the Book of Mormon.  Nothing we could ever say would prove to you that it is true.  It is something you have to find out by reading it for yourself.  Here is a promise that Moroni gave us in the last chapter of the Book of Mormon:
Quote

Moroni, 10: 4 - And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

5 - And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

You can get a free copy of the Book of Mormon by calling up the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (look in your phone book), and asking them to send a missionary over to give you a  BOM, or asking them for the number to call to get a free BOM sent to you in the mail.  Either way, it is as easy as one or two phone calls to get a free Book of Mormon, and I promise you from the bottom of my heart, it will be well worth it.

Maybe then, and only then, you will understand the "stubbornness" (as the anti-mormons like to call it) of us Mormons.

Teehee, now I get flashbacks to the movie Orgazmo. :)

PS. Sorry about ruining your religious thread. But most people already know how I feel - and Björn put it perfectly.

I was waiting for someone to bring that up!  That has to be one of the worst movies ever made.

I flipped through the book of Mormon. It was the weirdest thing I ever read. There are supposedly different prophets but they all write the exact same. They all start with the same words. I also heard from my social studies teacher that the Mormons believed that Jesus came to the people that used human sacrifice to the sun.
I\'ve been wondering this for a while. If there is only one god, then how are there so many different religions? A lot of them are based around God like Islam (Allah=another name for God). I heard in 7th grade from my teacher that there are 100 different names for God. There are also a lot of religions that are polytheism (many Gods). Also, if God created the earth and made humans on day 7, how are there dinosaurs and all of those other organisms they found? This is why I don\'t believe in a good deal of the Old Testament. It\'s not really credible. They to me are just stories.

A lot of those questions I already gave theories for in previous pages.  But I just want to comment that you would be a great anti-Mormon.  Just post that BS in a website and watch as thousands of people believe every word of it.

I am going to create the Church of Sports.  There will be a huge monitor wall in back of the alter so we don\'t offend anyone.  We\'ll show all sports.

I\'m thinking about serving beer and sandwhiches to.  Ooo, maybe for communion..  Yeah, this will be great...

We will put a keg up front for the people to come up and accept the beer.  This will be symbolic of the blood of Jesus.  then we will give out hoagies.

You have to give at least 3 bucks though in the baseball cap we pass around though in order to get a cup.
