You know, I actually prefer ESPNs gameplay as opposed to Maddens. Just letting the QB drop back himself and then hit my target feels right. My only complaint is on DB coverage. It is hard to control your player when a lob is thrown and the computer sometimes doesn\'t do a good enough job.

One thing I will mention that I absoultely love about this game:

When tackling someone, there will be periods were the player being tackled will fall slowly. Slow enough for you to get another pop in from another player. Now instead of just falling off the player who is being tackled, the 2nd tackler latches on and changes the player who is being tackled direction. I love the contant gang tackles.

I think this game is very much on par with Madden, but not better than Madden.

The presentation is frickin\' incredible.

How great is it to watch Sportscenter after you play a week of games and watch all the highlights!?

Is that only on the XBOX?

Nope it\'s PS2 also. Plus I have a HDD so its virtually the same just with a little downplay on the graphics.

sorry..but i see this as an impronement..no longer will the player be able to cut on a dime..the player now has to adjust his footing before making the cut..it\'s called being more realistic..that said i have the game & while i haven\'t played madden yet, i must say that this is thee best football game there is period...i can understand some being madden loyalists but for you not to even fork over 20 bucks for a stellar game is just crazy...

stop with the damn madden loyalist. its the better game. When a guy is running, im afriad in real life they are able to run to the left sideline and make a smooth rounded turn to get around the defense. You cant do it in this game. The guy stops his running and turns. Madden you can actually run and smoothly go around. Im not talking from going right to left, im talking going from right to straight in a realistic manner.

Its far from the best game. YOUR JUST A ESPN FANNNBOOOOY. Annoy after a while isnt it? Just because madden people think its the better game they are obviously the ones who are dilusional and wrong and follow into the brand. DUR NO DUR.

and i did buy the game.

well i wouldn\'t call myself an espn fanboy...i\'ve been a loyal madden fan up until 2003,..and just got tired of the same ol gameplay...i bought espn last year & i\'ve played madden 2004 & to me madden takes a backseat to espn...but i will agree with you on the running..madden runs more smoothly when running in a straight line then running to the right or left...still imo espn plays more realistically than madden,..but i will have to wait & see how madden 2005 plays...

I have been a Madden loyalist for years but purchased ESPN 2005 tonight because I knew it had something to offer Madden just didnt. I\'ve been loving every second of the gameplay. The presentation is especially like none other. I just wish I had a harddrive for the halftime show.

Im still looking forward to Madden though. I think it\'s a win win situation with either game. I plan on owning boht.

yea i plan on getting the harddrive because i didn\'t know they showed highlights even in the post game show...i thought the presentation was great last year, this year they\'ve taken it a step further...

This is the exact mentality Madden fans should be approaching this game with. If you\'re a diehard Madden fan, it\'s obvious that you won\'t change your opinion on which is better unless John Madden himself supports ESPN, but until then, how can anyone honestly say no to a full featured game such as ESPN NFL 2K5 at $20 and still maintain a straight face?

This $20 dollar deal is once in a lifetime and its primary goal is to show the diehard that ESPN does indeed have its huge advantages over Madden. You don\'t have to switch up, that\'s for sure, but you most likely won\'t be hurting yourself or your wallet by owning two of the best football games ever made.

There is no one in existance that can go from running full speed toward the sideline-to running up the field without planting their foot.

If you think the way Madden handled momentum and turning was better than this you are delusional.

I played a few games of ESPN the other night and I was totally blown away by the presentation. Really the graphics overall are a pretty good step up from what madden offers.

The only thing I didn\'t like about it was the gameplay. It was like beating off with boxing gloves.... guess it\'s just not for me. And if by "huge advantages" over madden is the presentation and video highlights, then we have different views on what a game should be centered on..... good gameplay.

I\'m not touting madden as the end all, be all of football video games. ESPN does a lot of things right, it just isn\'t for me (yet).

I think your problem is that when your running to the left and you want to cut up field, you don\'t gradually bring the control stick toward the top, instead you just stop pushing left and go right to up. I had this problem but when I went into the practice mode I found out why it was happening. You can try that if you\'d like

kinda off topic..just heard my team dallas just signed eddie george...damn that\'s one of the drawbacks of releasing a game early..i guess there\'s a way to update the roster? i don\'t usually bother with that stuff but when i\'m playing i\'d like to make sure i\'m as current as possible...
