Spider-Man 2: Spoilers Abound

The movie was not terrible, but it didn\'t quite meet my expectations.

We could have done with a little less verbal philosophizing from Aunt May, Mary Jane, and others.  It just becomes a bit tedious, and the way it was handled made it difficult for me to take seriously.  I am not a normal american moviegoer who requires constant action and visual effects.  I like a good drama; but if this was trying to be an effective character drama, it didn\'t work too well.

[sp]I also didn\'t understand some of the choices in the story construction. It took forever for Peter Parker to decide he didn\'t want to be Spiderman anymore, then he changes his mind back again with no strong event to force him to.  He changed his mind back BEFORE Doc Ock threw the car at him and threatened MJ.  I would have preferred if it was more like Superman 2, and he only returned because he had no choice.

I was hoping for a better explanation for Peter losing his superpowers.  My friend suggested that even something as stupid as "he needed love in his life" would have been better than the explanation they used.  It would have been nice if they had made it so that as soon as Mary Jane stroked him, he was able to squirt his webshooters again.  :)[/sp]

Visual effects were nice, but still a couple errors here and there.  Much better than the first film.  Character animation was much much better than before.

That\'s all folks.  Vid, please don\'t take your kid to see this movie.  We don\'t need anymore crying / talking / squirming babies in movie theaters.  I had enough of that in the theater I went to.

I definitely agree with this, but I don\'t think it has to do too much with the speeches, but that this screenwriter was absolutely terrible writing dialogue for women.  He just can\'t grasp them.  Really weird.

He decided to change back because of what Aunt May told him about being a hero and that the world needs more of them, but psychologically, he was still on the fence about it.  He was basically fooling himself into thinking the city really needed him.. and then he fell again and hurt his back and that was that.

My friend and I agreed that saying he had a case of non-contagious Motaba or something that showed up as just flu symptoms to him would have been a much better explanation for his "off" powers.  Making it a psychological ailment didn\'t really add to the dynamic of his character.  It was pretty much rammed home with that Uncle Ben scene.

I just saw the movie, and I also have to say I thought it was amazing.  I was definitely impressed with it, and I love how many different things I saw them setting up.

As for the future movies, this is my theory.  I believe the next one will has to have the Green Goblin the way they ended this one.  I also think that they will focus a lot on the Lizard story line and add him in as a second villian to try to keep from being repetitive and having a similar villian to the first movie.

How many movies are they planning on making though?  I may have more theories involving future movies, depending on how many there will be.

Just saw it... Definitely an awesome flick, much better than the first. I was surprised at the Doctor Octopus villain, I thought he\'d be kind of lame but he kicked major ass.

The entire theater applauded when Peter and MJ kissed; man I think applauding during a movie is lame.

What\'s wrong with expressing excitement?  It\'s no different when someone cheers at the TV when watching a football game and I\'m sure you do that.

I dunno... honestly I don\'t have a tantrum when everybody applauds, I just kinda smirk to myself. That, and my hand was on a chick\'s ass and I had to move it so I could applaud. :(

Besides the baddies set up in this movie..
Eddie Brock was in the first one (even if Rami doesn\'t want to do Venom).

I think venom is the best spidey-villain.  But if they go with classics, they can also use the hunter, mysterio, lizard, more goblin...  They have lots of options for a third, fourth, fifth.....

Actually they are different.  If you cheer while watching a sporting event on TV, you are acknowledging a real, live event that\'s happening somewhere at that very moment.  The outcome affects other events in the real world.

If you applaud DURING a typical movie, you are reacting to a fictional event written 2 years ago, perfomed 12 months ago, edited together 4 months ago, and played back at thousands of auditoriums simultaneously all across the country.  Kind of pointless if you ask me, but I know people are stupid, so there\'s no avoiding it.

Not true.  The same people who cheer during a sporting event also cheer if they tape it and watch it at home so long as the events of the game have not been disclosed to them.  It\'s exactly the same for a movie.  It may not be live, but it\'s exciting to see what happens nevertheless considering it\'s a total mystery to you.
