Anyone that claps in a non live cinema is a geek.
Please don\'t compare it to laughing/crying or whatever. Its a different ball game.
You clap to applaud good work done by people that can appreciate the fact you\'re doing it. So who you clapping to in a pre-recorded projecting cinema?
If you\'re clapping because you’re happy, there is such a thing as smiling.

not that its a bad thing to be a geek...........  in certain fields.

Clapping during a film doesn\'t mean you\'re more into it, or anything near that.  Just means you\'re willing to make a complete fool of yourself.  If your\'e right in saying everyone in your area does, then I would honestly not go to the theaters to see any movie.

Comparisons between sporting events and this is also laughable.  Then again we\'re trying to reason with someone who enjoyed "The Hulk".

I think applauding for a sporting event, whether live or on TV, is completely different than applauding for a movie. When you applaud watching a game on TV if something remarkable happens of course you\'re going to be prone to the typical "YES!" and "Woohoo!" because that\'s just natural instinct; some peole are initially more excited than others. If you\'re attending the actual game itself then of course you\'re going to hear more cheers and screams because everyone wants to be heard when they\'re live. Applauding at the movies is more like watching the game on TV. Someone who\'s interested in the actual movie is more feasible to make a comment than someone who got dragged along with a significant other, sibling, etc. But anyway this is so redundant, some places it\'s okay to applaud and cheer in a movie, other places you could be crucified for it... every place is different..

Well I saw it instead of fireworks and it was much better that a bunch of silly little fireworks... I thought Doc Oc was very cool and it was pretty funny I took a bunch of 10-14 year olds so I think I need to go again by myself and from what I saw in the movie the next villians in 3 will be the green goblin again and The Lizard (Dr. Conners) who was his teacher (note the one arm as he walked away on campus) and the friend of Doc Oc a runner up will be the scorpion
When did I realize I was God? One day I was praying and suddenly realized I was talking to myself.[/font]

I start clapping everytime I hit the post button.
Who is this anamoly we call Jumpman? How is he able to do what he does and still survive after years of torment? It seems he feeds on the hate, growing with an intense passion to put unassuming members in their place.

I went to another screening of Spider-Man 2 and I went ahead and did it the stone-faced route and even with half the theatre full, mostly adults, and me not initiating a clap, the entire audience still did anyways at various scenes including, but not limited to, the credits!  What is this?!  How can this be?!  omgzorz, thos people are all stupid because teh event is not livee11111!!!  Omgzzzorrz, a lot of overpaid steroid abusing sportsman weren\'t there to hear it after hitting the 99 millionth homerun and people still clapped!  Holy f*cking shit!!1111  omgzzoeororororeozz...

What reasoning would that be?  That you think it\'s stupid?  Oh, now there\'s good cause for me to stop doing anything and everything!  A couple of forum-goers who I never met in my life think it\'s stupid, that reasoning is beyond contestation!  Holy shit!  You have changed me for the good of all mankind!

All people in Oakland do is talk during the movie.  "Oh snap!  Dock Ock just kicked Spidey\'s ass just like little Dillon did to his friend AJ last week, oh shit, that was the SHIZZLE!  Yeh, dayyyym, dat boy was off da hook!"  Repeat that for 5 minute segments at a time.

Ryu, you\'re not half as clever as you think you are.  With that being said, cheering/clapping in any sporting event will never be the same as in a movie theather, no matter how hard you try.  One is predetermined, the other isn\'t.  I\'m not completely sure if thats the deciding factor for me, but that sums up what I can put into words.

Oh really?  Then explain wrestling for me.  The events of that are pre-determined and scripted every week, but that sure doesn\'t stop the people from cheering and being excited.  Last time I watched wrestling, or even browsed past it on TV, it seemed to me that every arena they were in was totaly packed to the brim with people wanting to watch.  They seem to be just as excited as someone at a football game and far moreso then anyone at a baseball game.
