You have a point there. It\'s more story driven. Very lengthy, but the story was a mess. It had it moments, but at times, it felt like it was over written, and over exaggerated.
Thats because there is lots post-modernism in it
I dont think the story in MGS2 was a mess. It can make sense. It brought matters in it that many arent willing to seat and think about them though.
The game doesnt ask you "do you care or not" and then offer you what you want. It offers you that and thats it. Therefore if you are the type of people that dont care much or havent occupied your mind before with similar matters it wont make sense or it will look like a waste of time. It is a love or hate think depending on taste and acceptance.
MGS2 took real events, real phenomenons and philosophical issues that characterize people as individuals and as societies in the present day and built a fictional story containing these to point to something. And I think it has strong influence from other work such as Orwell\'s. But it went beyond what many would have expected and want to hear. It nullified individuals and societies. It smashed their integrity with some extremely criticizing and complex dialogue. It is not something bad. It is not something that everyone is willing to accept or want to hear either. Especially in a videogame.
I would say that MGS2 is best suited to a particular audience.
