its definitly one of the more conviluted stories..but entertainment wise, i didn\'t find it more interesting than a few other games.

but im interested to see why the locusts are attacking in gears 2 so it doesnt take too much to get me to get into stories of games i like

Oil.
Obviously they are attacking for Oil.
That or WMD\'s.

i only played 2 metal gear solid game and that is one and two.  I thought Metal Gear Solid was a masterpiece, and a classic.  The gameplay is great, so was the story.  Metal Gear Solid 2 story is kind of all over the places, really a letdown compare to 1.  But the gameplay is still great which is still cool.  Although I thought MGS One gameplay is a tad more better as it has more interesting and clever ideas than 2.

MGS2 is more about graphic, and physic than it\'s about story.  Never play MGS3 or MGS4 yet so I don\'t know about them.

It\'s all about first impressions. If I spend over forty minutes "playing" a game and only get two minutes of gameplay, then something is wrong.

I made it to where I get the MK II, rocket launcher and all that crap.

Act 3 is fun. I beat Normal Twice. Now I want to play EASY so i could collect the stupid dolls.

I collected all dolls on the hard difficulty setting easily and now I am on act 4 on BOSS EXTREME with no kills, no alerts, no health recovery items used and no continues.

The first I enjoyed it. The second I fill like Itchy the Killer. I have become a masochist

You have a point there.  It\'s more story driven.  Very lengthy, but the story was a mess.  It had it moments, but at times, it felt like it was over written, and over exaggerated.

Thats because there is lots post-modernism in it ;) I dont think the story in MGS2 was a mess. It can make sense. It brought matters in it that many arent willing to seat and think about them though.

The game doesnt ask you "do you care or not" and then offer you what you want. It offers you that and thats it. Therefore if you are the type of people that dont care much or havent occupied your mind before with similar matters it wont make sense or it will look like a waste of time. It is a love or hate think depending on taste and acceptance.

MGS2 took real events, real phenomenons and philosophical issues that characterize people as individuals and as societies in the present day and built a fictional story containing these to point to something. And I think it has strong influence from other work such as Orwell\'s. But it went beyond what many would have expected and want to hear. It nullified individuals and societies. It smashed their integrity with some extremely criticizing and complex dialogue. It is not something bad. It is not something that everyone is willing to accept or want to hear either. Especially in a videogame.

I would say that MGS2 is best suited to a particular audience.

the story lost it when it talks about revolver ocelot hand on liquid snake\'s arm and it starts to get too complex and confusing for me afterward.:D

Well all the answers are in MGS4

It even explains Liquid\'s personality in Ocelot. It is not as "supernatural" as it looked in MGS2. But I wouldnt want to spoil anything in case you are interested to play it :)

Phew.....I managed to acquire the Big Boss Emblem. It took forever.

Pretty hard to finish the Boss Extreme with no health items used, no continues, no kills and no alerts under 5 hours.

There were instances that I thought it was utter impossible.
