MLB Playoffs - Can this year top last years?

Yeah, nobody cared about Ortiz.. not even the Sox. Manny and Pedro had to nudge Theo to sign him..

Then, he didn\'t get much playing time until almost a third of the way into the season.. but still hit near .300 with over 30 homers and over 100 RBI. Awesome.

Perfect, Red Sox vs. Yankees ALCS...

Revenge is a dish best served cold... :)

We have our rotation set up this year perfectly, and we are overall a much better team.  Should be interesting.

The Yankees are pests, despite poor statistics. I really hope Francona doesn\'t mess up.

We all know that it wasn\'t Pedro that buried the Red Sox in Game 7..

Don\'t even say that. You\'re gonna curse them. You know as well as I do that you can\'t trust the Red Sox until the last out.

Yep. You certainly can\'t trust them to get through the 8th inning.

I\'ve been gone for a bit, but one thing I missed that I have to say something about: mjps21983 saying the Red Sox have nearly as many resources as the Yanks.

That is so incredibly far from being true.  The Yankees make more than the Sox by a whole hell of a lot.  The Sox have a smaller stadium, so they can\'t sell as many tickets (they do sell out every game).  The TV base is one of the huge differences though.  The NY area is so much bigger than the Boston one that the broadcasting revenue generated by the Yanks is much larger than that of the Sox.  There are tons of other factors, but yeah, there is no way that any other team has close to the resources of the Yanks.

And trust me, if the Sox could support a pay roll the size of the Yanks, they\'d use it to try to beat them.

And as for comparing the staffs, don\'t make me laugh.

The payrolls are only $60-70 million dollars apart but the Yanks could easily support over $200 million in payroll.

And 60-70 mil is more I\'m sure than the payroll of a lot of MLB teams.

Minnesota\'s is only aroung 50-60 million.  Some one actually stated that most of the Minnesota line up wouldn\'t even start if they were playing for the Yankees.

^^^Thats true for a lot of teams though. How many players from Minny would start on the Sox? I would venture to say that Torii Hunter would get some burn but other than that everyone sits(Besides, of course, Santana but that is a given.)

Hunter would play in RF against lefties.
Santana would be the #1 or 2.
Koskie would be an improvement over Youkilis.

I guess thats about it, they\'re not very good, well, neither is anyone in the AL Central.

But not over Mueller and with Bill healthy Youk doesn\'t get any burn.

Not really, our bullpen have one screw up in the past two seasons in the post-season.  The grand slam to Guerrero that was it.

Boone\'s HR doesn\'t count because he hit it off of a starter.
