wow

I just don\'t get why you come in here.  You\'re trying to hang on to your theory that Halo only did well because there was no competition yet everyone in this thread has disagreed with you and not only that several of them have questioned your logic.  All this going on and all you do is repeat your ridiculous theory while ignoring answers.

You claim that Halo only did well because there wasn\'t any competition.  That doesn\'t explain why the game is still in the top ten, why it has sold 5.5 million leaving other console FPS in the dust, and the sequel has record breaking pre-sales.

Those are the points myself and others have made.  My guess as to why you\'re not able to step up and make your point is that you don\'t have one, just like the Fable thread.

Seriously, ever wonder why it is nobody agrees with you?

LOL, you really do have blinders on.  I mentioned Time Splitters, Red Faction, and Eden for FPS console games about a page or two back.  Then I refered to it twice.  It\'s really like you\'re trying to pin some sort of fault on Bungie for releasing a superior game...that just doesn\'t make any sense.

quote where Ryu agreed with you.  I actually remember him saying he doesn\'t see your logic but if you can spin it around I\'d love to see you try.;)

I think you\'re referring to the "sales=king" comment and people would have to be a fool to disagree.  What you fail to see is that Halo is the "king", at least when it comes to console FPS.

If anything, it seemed that Ryu was mocking you.  Ryu, correct me if I\'m wrong.

ginko, there was also 007: Agent under fire and I do believe they also released the ever popular counterstrike for XBOX.

Also Doom 3 for XBOX is coming out around the same time as Halo 2.

Thank you, The Hurricane.  I forgot about the entire Bond series and counter-strike.

BTW, do you know when Doom 3 is due out?  I think eb has it listed for the end of this month but that can\'t be right...

I was pointing out the incredible irony of saying sales = king and then someone rationalizing it by making a lameduck excuse about there not being any competition so I suppose it was indeed a mock statement.

If sales = king, and nothing, at the time, was out according to mm\'s statement, then you also have to realize that Halo did not sell 5.5 million copies in a month or two or three, but over the course of a few years much like all well made titles.  If that\'s the case, then this lack of competition argument is so insanely moot and useless that it baffles the mind.
Don\'t you ever touch my cape.

hmmm, I thought this was wrapped up with that finishing blow from Ryu.  I suppose you turned a blind eye to that to?

BTW, Timesplitters, Counter Strike, and the Bond games are available on Xbox.

So basically you\'re going to abuse your admin powers if we don\'t agree with you?  That\'s down right pathetic, shame on you.

Oh, and just because I like reminding you...  Halo = 5.5 million sales.  Halo 2 = one million+ presales.  Looks like the popular vote is in, Halo is king. :p

What\'s sad is that I\'ve repeated myself at least five times, maybe the sixth time is the charm?  I\'ll be brief...

The competition has come and gone.

EDIT:

Do you even know?  I\'m not going to trust your 15 million figure as you blew up the Final Fantasy X figure over by at least 4 million.  At least I provided a link.

EDIT2:>>>Gran Turismo Link: E3 2003<<<

It says the series, GT1-3, has accomplished 32 million in sales.

No.You are so stubborn and have such a fixed idea with your invalid logic that when someone is trying to explain to you where you were wrong you fail to think and comprehend his point since you dont want to put the effort to do so.

Its not a coincidence so many people disagree with you.

And you are the one who is comparing exclusive popular PS2 games with XBOX first-appearance-games.
Also you seem to refer to sales so much. But you avoid mentioning the praise a game gets which doesnt necessarily have to do with sales.

FFX for example when it was released it made a record of sales.Kingdom Hearts on the other hand didnt sell as much.Yet it gets equal praise if not more.
Your sales/competition(no one forced gamers to like the game more than it deserved) arguement prooves nothing.

DMC2 sold a lot considering its garbage but it is viewed as one of the biggest dissapointments ever and its the people that bought it that say that. However this isnt the case with Halo.

Halo didnt just sell a lot.Its being praised as a great game.

Its an example of a title that sells because of its quality.Proof is the praise the game still gets, the reviews and the fact that its still in the top 10 charts unlike other titles that have sold thanks to other reasons like popularity

If you find flaws and call it shit after you finish it means nothing. You are a gamer among millions that own Halo

Deja vu...

As Ryu said, Halo did not get 5.5 million sales over night, or in a month, or a year for that matter.  Halo has remained in the top ten since its\' debut despite direct competition.  It clearly indicates that Halo is of a quality that the masses demand.  Perhaps you can spin an excuse as to why Timesplitters, Metroid Prime, Eden, Red Faction, Bond, and Counter Strike have simply come and gone while Halo\'s sales remain steady?

Anyway, I\'ll keep reminding you until you get it.  Halo = 5.5 million sales.  The masses have spoken and they don\'t care what you think.:)

Unfortunately, not everyone thinks these flaws are as big as you make them out to be.

And to quote what I stated to LiC in the Bungie Weekly Update thread:

"And only three of those maps from the single player campaign were "repeated" later on in the game...
  • Pillar of Autumn/The Maw
  • Truth & Reconciliation/Keyes
  • Assault on the Control Room/Two Betrayals
... in order to extend the game\'s length. I say "repeated" because even though they were basically the same maps, different areas were present with different textures.[/i]

Quote
what did it have to compete with?

Some of it\'s competition since it\'s debut in 2k1, on the Xbox alone:
  • Chronicles of Riddick
  • Unreal Championship
  • MoH: Frontline
  • Nightfire
  • Counterstrike
  • Unreal 2
  • Red Faction 2
  • Return to Castle Wolfenstein
  • Timesplitters 1&2
And just recently, Star Wars Battlefront. Any other big ones I\'m missing?
