What is it with black politicians obsession with the economic, social and political problems in Africa? Race is the answer of course, but if you asked a black person in Africa if they cared about a black person in America they would laugh as they have nothing in common. For example, I am white, but I wouldn\'t give a damn about the economic or political problems in France, Holland, etc.
If you think that asian/hispanic/european people(whether they be immigrants or not) do not care about the happenings in their home country, despite having nothing in common with the people there, then you are deluding yourself.
Africans don\'t care about African-Americans because they are too busy worrying about famine/disease/war/poverty. To try and turn concern for a poverty stricken part of the world into a case for racism is ridiculous. How many asians do you see crusading for Africa or South America?

I care about Americans as should Sharpton. Instead he thinks we should be concerned about the problems in Africa soley based on his race.
So because someone cares about something outside of our borders they don\'t care about America? You act like asian leaders aren\'t looking out for asians, hispanic leaders aren\'t looking out for hispanics, women leaders aren\'t looking out for women, homosexual leaders aren\'t looking out for homosexuals. What is wrong with that? Sharpton is not a public official he is a member of the private sector. If a black person saying that they want to improve life in Africa or in the inner cities makes them a racist then call me a racist.

It is ok for us to send troops to Africa (which I am sure he is for), but not Iraq? He was also for us sending troops to Haiti - another mostly black nation.
If you really think that Iraq is worse of than somewhere like the Congo than you know nothing about world affairs. It is true that Iraqis had to live under a totalitarian government who at one time used chemical weapons on his own people. People in the congo have NO functional government and have to put up with bands of militias(some with members as young as 9) who routinely kill entire villages to prove their strength. In the last 5-6 years the death toll in the congo is at least 4
MILLION people . That is THE MOST BLOODSHED ON EARTH SINCE WORLD WAR II.

When AIDS was primarily a gay problem where was Sharpton?
Where were ANY of the AIDS advocates? Name me ONE person, that advocates AIDS assistance now, who was an advocate when it was a "gay problem"?

Sharptons speech great? Hardly.
Apparently a speech is measured by how much you agree with it.
